Counselling and Therapy for Childhood and Past Issues

Sometimes we may have had difficult childhoods for many reasons and find that issues from the past still affect us. This could be anything from an experience of childhood bullying which has led to a lack of self esteem and confidence in adulthood or abuse which has left physical, emotional and/or psychological scarring and created trust difficulties in later life. However not everything is related to our childhoods and many people have happy and healthy experiences of growing up. Perhaps there has been a significant event later in life that has impacted you detrimentally in some way.

How therapy can help

Our pasts are a part of who we are and as such they are important since to a certain extent they contribute to who we are today. However the negative aspects donít need to determine out futures. Speaking to a trained professional in a safe and confidential environment can provide the opportunity to explore past events and experiences, recognise how they may have affected us and enable us to be in a more empowered position in the present day to make new choices and decisions.

Testimonials from previous clients:

"Difficult issues in my childhood had resulted in me having an addiction in my adult years. I was unsure if counselling would help but am happy to have been proved wrong. My work with Wendy involved exploring my childhood which was at times painful but has allowed me to understand myself better. I have also learnt techniques to manage my addiction. Thank you!".
